Mtnbikerfred: The scripture on this cross comes as the conclusion of what I think is one of the greatest grace stories ever told. In the home of a powerful religious leader, Jesus feet are washed by the Harlot. She probably only got in because of the very expensive bottle of perfume she was carrying. "Did she steal it?" they wondered. More shame. Perhaps it was all she had left of any value. Her family had long since written her off. She was so broken and poor, not worthy to be a slave in this house, that she fell down behind Jesus at his feet as soon after he came in. She was so ashamed, she couldn't stand to be in front of him, in the sight of her Lord. She sobbed. No one offered her help at all. they brought no basin of water, so she used her tears to wash his feet. No one offered a towel, so she dried his feet with her hair. Then she broke the seal on the bottle and put the perfume on his feet. There was no going back now. In her heart, she knew Jesus Christ. The fragrance rose. This was all she had to offer. Everything she had to give. The host seeing this, was thinking he was even more righteous the Jesus. "If he were from God, he wouldn't let this... this... filthy dirty whore even touch him. According to his law, she was "unclean". Jesus knowing what he was thinking said" I've got something to tell you". He explained grace to them in simple terms of forgivness of debt so they would understand, but they still didn't know Jesus. Even after he explained it, he had to turn to face the woman and tell this righteous man, that her poor broken heart could receive more forgiveness than his. Jesus said "Your sins are forgiven" to the woman. The men were shocked and mumbled to themselves about Jesus forgiving sins. So Jesus said to the Woman (no longer a harlot) "Your faith has saved you.Go in peace" - .
